The only real tea room in the Higashichaya that doesn't play the exclusivity of the area card, i.e. welcoming, friendly service and a fair price. Nice view on the districy street from the 2F, good matcha and wagashi (small sweets that are eaten with matcha). They also have a few other things on the menu, but you need to try matcha and wagashi at least once while in the district. Bilingual menu and free wifi available.

It is good to be able to do it slowly. Because staff members do not know about customers as they bring orders. If the water runs out I will go for it myself! I wish I had coffee and Japanese sweets.

Great service in cozy tea house. Upstairs and downstairs available. Iced green tea with namagashi (fresh red bean treat) 900 yen for the set or 600 for the tea only. Everyone agreed that the “roasted” green tea kakigori (Japanese shaved ice) 900 yen was awesome. Haven’t seen that flavor anywhere else in japan.

I ordered a set of matcha and fresh confectionery!The atmosphere inside the store was good and the clerk was kind.The confectionery was also moderately sweet and matched with the bitterness of matcha and was very good for a break during sightseeing!

It’s a good cafe to take a break from sightseeing in Higashi Chayagai. Good dessert and matcha. Didn’t try their coffee but smelled really great. If you get to pstairs it has a high ceiling and you can overlook the main street. Enjoyable view of many swallows going back and forth, busily getting food for their babies under the roof of machiya (old traditional houses) in May.

We used it for a rest during the afternoon sightseeing. I had ice cream latte and chilled zenzai. Matcha Blanc Mange is also excellent!
